Ahimsa going strong!

I have continued on with my Ahimsa challenge and have allowed very little if any violence into my life and it has tremendously changed my life for the better. I have a deeper appreciation of the blessings that surrounded me all the time and am far more aware of them. As Thich Nhat Hanh says, "What's not wrong!"

Forty Day Ahimsa Challenge

Forty daysfree of any violent media, including video, audio, print and oh yesthis likely includes most movies, tv shows, news etc..See how you willfeel after forty days of not allowing violence into your life. How youwill be transfigured, how you will transfigure the world. Howbeautifully your mind body spirit will calm. How your heart will openand rejoice. Sign-up on the blog page, post your thoughts andexperiences.

Today, Tuesday October 6th is my day one. Typically I would listen to Old Time Radio Mystery/Detective Stories, inevitably about murder, and have omitted them from my life. Instead of ending my day with one of them, I listened and fell asleep to a wonderful guided Yoga Nidra meditation. Awoke feeling calm, grounded, focussed, peaceful. Listened to Thich Nhat Hanh as well. So much better. Feel good now, join the challege.

My friend Hai, a Buddhist Monk, stated that the media we tend to participate is infact an intoxicant. It keeps us hyped up, not calm, not peaceful, not relaxed. We become addicted to the elevated state and miss the beauty of this moment, "As it is".

Would love to hear from you all as you join the challenge and what arises for you. We can support each other on-line and in-person to realize the peace that is waiting within.

Namaste

This is my first ever Blog entry. I welcome people to contribute to the blog thus making it a Forum for those seeking spiritual ecological sustainability. I have found over the last several years a ground swelling of people from all avenues of Vancouver seeking more meaning in their lives. All people, not just lefties or hippies or yogis. We all seek the same and have our own unique and wonderful paths to follow. I invite you to share your journey's experiences with us at this blog, as will I! Sat Nam (a Kundalini Yoga expression in the Gurmukhi language, a pre-cursor to Punjabi) that means Truth is my Identity.
