Restorative Yoga with Tomas at Mount Pleasant Community Centre - Tuesdays 8 - 9:15 pm April to June, 12 Sessions only $120 - Registration: 604 257 3080
Yoga is not about touching one's toes or doing acrobatic poses. Classical Ashtanga Yoga (NOT Power Yoga) is about finding a deep sense of peace and contentment within using poses, breathing, and meditation techniques. Classical Ashtanga Yoga brings one in touch with one's purpose and inner-peace, cultivating physical and mental well-being. Consequently, one's relationships improve, enabling us to alleviate many seemingly insurmountable local and global issues.
Classes are suitable for all levels of Yoga experience and ability as the practice is adaptable to all. Postures, Breathwork, Chanting, Meditation and Mental Attitudes of Compassion and Peace are the basis of these classes.

Ashtanga means Eight Limbs: Yamas (Restraints), Niyamas (Observances), Asana (Postures), Pranayam (Breath Work), Pratyahara (Withdrawal of the senses), Dharana, Dhyana and Samadi are all forms of Meditation. Classical Ashtanga Yoga is grounded in the first step in the first limb Yama, which is Ahimsa, non-violence, as practiced by Mahatma Gandhi. The practice of non-violence to oneself in body, mind and spirit is the essential basis of our lives. As Reverend Martin Luther King Jr. stated,"Peace is not a distant goal but a means to that goal." Baba Hari Dass states that the accomplishment of Ahimsa is full liberation. We use the Yoga Asana practice to cultivate the sense of non-violence from within so we can share it with all those beings around us.
